Who we are...

HISTORICAL

In 1982, the Typical Orchestra of Ourém was founded by the efforts of the Academic Musical President Bands of Ourém, Armando Rodrigues, with the intent to promote and captivate the origins of the popular Portuguese music. The Orchestra constitutes two bodies, chorus and musical players. The chorus is formed with men and women`s voices that are displayed in four major voices: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. The musical players are 25 elements divided in categories of instruments family groups such as strings, woodwinds, percussion and other musical instruments. For e.g. strings: violas, bandolas, bandoloncelo, woodwinds; flutes and clarinets; percussion; xylophone and drums, these musical instruments are just some examples of musical instruments used in the Orchestra. Some elements of the Chorus perform in solo several Musical themes.During their years of existence, this well-know Orchestra has stepped in many national and International Stages. Three of the most important performances took place: twice in France (Auinay-sous-Bois and Plessis-Trévisse) and once in Spain (Vilarreal for “The International String Instruments Festival” and Burriana) where their artistic value was distinguished and acclaimed.
